Position Overview

Thomas J. Tree Care is seeking an experienced ISA Certified Arborist / Sales Arborist to join our team in a unique hybrid role that combines approximately 50% field production arboriculture and 50% customer consultation and sales.

This position is ideal for an arborist who enjoys both hands-on tree work and helping clients make informed decisions about the care of their trees.

What You’ll Do

Tree Care and Sales Consulting (50:50)

Tree Care Production

  • Perform climbing, pruning, rigging, removals, cabling, and other advanced tree care operations.
  • Apply species-specific pruning and preservation practices.
  • Evaluate tree health, structure, and site conditions.
  • Mentor crew members and provide technical leadership in the field.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.

Sales and Consulting

  • Meet with clients to assess tree care needs and provide recommendations.
  • Conduct tree health, structural, and risk evaluations.
  • Prepare estimates and proposals for tree care services.
  • Build trust-based relationships through consultative selling.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact throughout the customer experience.

Qualifications

Required:

  • ISA Certified Arborist credential in good standing.
  • Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) (or ability to acquire within 1 year with company support)
  • Minimum 5 years of professional arboriculture experience.
  • Strong climbing, pruning, rigging, and tree care skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.

Preferred:

  • Tree care sales or consulting experience.
  • Plant Health Care experience.
  • Leadership or crew supervision experience.
  • Experience with CRM and estimating software.
